Bottled Water

Bottled Water

The controversy over bottled water continues to be one that people are closely following. For a very long time we have been told that this form of water is much better than regular tap that you get from your sink. In some locations it is but in others it is the same or even lower quality. Bottled water can be expensive, and if you drink it every day that is a huge amount of money you are wasting if it doesn't offer you anything more than what you can get out of the sink.

Research has shown that tap water has to be carefully monitored and tested. Those tests are more lax for various bottled water companies. It is believed by some that bottled water gives consumers a false interpretation of what it has to offer. It is merely regular water packaged in appealing bottles. More than $100 billion worth of bottled water is purchased annually in the United States.

Bottled water can be a necessity if you are going hiking or camping. Make sure you always carry a good supply of it. You don't want to be stranded out there without sufficient water to drink. It is also in demand when natural disasters occur that can result in the water supply being contaminated. It does take time to test it so having some bottled water on hand with your emergency supply kit is a good idea.

If nothing else, bottled water is a convenient way to make sure you get the water you need. Many vending machines carry it and offices offer it to customers that come in. Water is often available while people are exercising or playing sports to prevent them from becoming dehydrated. There are several brands of bottled water out there, and you may have your favorite. Pay close attention to the labels though as some of them contain high amounts of sodium.

For those that don't like water regardless of it being in a bottle form, there are some flavored options. Some of the common ones are cherry, lemon, and strawberry. These are great substitutes if you really want to drink the water you should but you find yourself having to force it down. It is a better alternative for children too instead of sugary drinks and Kool Aid.

Today's Tip On Drinking Water

According to the Safe Drinking Water Act, all public water systems must ensure that their water is safe to drink. They have two different categories. The first is the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation. This regulation states the exact specifications that water sources must meet for our consumption. The second category is the National Secondary Drinking Water Act Regulation. This is the regulation that tells and monitors taste, color and texture. The water must be clean but doesn't have to look or taste great.
